About Estate Management Department

Bachelor of Technology in Estate Management (B.Tech Estate Management and Valuation) Estate Management and Valuation is the art and science of supervising the use, development, and management of landed property, other natural resources, the built environment, and the valuation of all interests subsisting therein. The programme is designed to produce graduates who can appreciate the complexity of legal, economic, technological, social, and environmental factors influencing the use, development, and management of landed property assets. It provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the breadth and depth of property investment markets, aligning knowledge with emerging global trends, technological advancement, and environmental concerns that call for responsive training in Estate Management and valuation.

The philosophy of the Bachelor’s degree in Estate Management and Valuation is to prepare students for responsible career positions in both public and private sectors by equipping them to address complex legal, socio-economic, and political issues associated with land value, property investments, land use, land administration, and management.

The programme emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of theoretical foundations and practical techniques in property valuation, building construction, land surveying, urban and regional planning, land law, land economics, and property development. Its objectives are to inculcate in students an appreciation of the relationships between humans and their natural and built environments; provide an intellectually stimulating learning experience; establish a broad and balanced knowledge of institutional frameworks governing land use; develop analytical skills for solving property and land investment problems; instill entrepreneurial and managerial capabilities; impart lifelong skills adaptable to changing economic and technological realities; encourage research and development; promote awareness of the relevance of estate surveying and valuation within industrial, environmental, and socio-cultural contexts; and foster the application of information technology in effective land and property management.

The employability and entrepreneurial prospects of graduates are excellent, as the programme develops interpersonal and professional competencies, including oral communication, teamwork, integrity, critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational management, leadership, negotiation, lifelong learning, and technological proficiency. Furthermore, students acquire 21st-century skills such as critical and analytical reasoning, research and creativity, perseverance, adaptability, communication, leadership, collaboration, and digital literacy, including ICT, media, data analysis, and programming. Unique features of the programme include exposure to diverse elective modules, opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life projects and case studies, and the development of strong teamwork and collaborative skills essential for professional success.
