About Environmental Science and Management Department

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Environmental Management is a five-year professional degree programme designed to train students in the sustainable management of environmental resources and challenges. The curriculum incorporates key areas such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), pollution control, entrepreneurship, information technology, health and safety, disaster management, and facilities management, preparing graduates to address complex environmental issues and contribute effectively to sustainable development.

The philosophy of the programme is to train competent professionals from diverse backgrounds to the highest academic standard in identifying, analyzing, and solving environmental problems. It aims to produce skilled manpower specifically for environmental surveillance, monitoring, planning, and management, while emphasizing the formulation and implementation of sustainable policies and land use strategies to improve environmental quality and human well-being. The objectives are to promote academic excellence through the training of environmental technocrats and managers capable of applying sustainable development principles; to create awareness of environmental challenges and opportunities; to provide a strong foundation in management systems and legal frameworks; and to develop technical and analytical skills for translating theory into practice in resource management.

Graduates of the programme have wide-ranging employment opportunities as environmental consultants, sustainability officers, waste management specialists, conservation managers, environmental engineers, and water quality scientists.
