About Civil and Environmental Engineering Department

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of the eight pioneering Departments in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin- Ekiti, Ekiti State. The Department runs a five-year programme, leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in the Civil and Environmental Engineering. The programme seeks to train Civil and Environmental Engineers equipped with the tools to understand, analyse, design and construct and maintain all possible physical facilities that promote appropriate development by conceiving and adapting techniques, processes and materials as necessary. The vision of the Department aligns with the University’s vision to be a reputable citadel of learning and a global player in knowledge production and dissemination. In achieving this mandate, the Department has a robust curriculum which is responsive to the dynamic nature of the programme. The curriculum covers different areas of Civil Engineering like Geotechnical Engineering, Highway and transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management. It is structured to provide opportunity for personal development and self-reliance. The Department is equipped with the state-of-the-art teaching, laboratory and workshop facilities which are essential for training students in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
