The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, has described the steady growth of the institution as a reflection of his vision for a modern and functional university, noting that what is currently evolving at FUTES aligns with the university of his dream.

Prof. Aribisala made this remark while receiving the Management of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI) during a courtesy visit to FUTES, aimed at strengthening inter-university collaboration and advancing shared academic and developmental objectives.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, although establishing a new university often comes with significant challenges, the progress recorded at FUTES even in less than one year of its establishment is the result of deliberate planning, collective commitment, and a clearly defined vision.

“Pioneer work is never easy, but with FUTES, you can already see progressive developments across the institution. Academic and administrative activities commenced on the 5th of January, and the University has continued to grow steadily since then,” Prof. Aribisala stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of BOUESTI, Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola, commended the Management of FUTES for the rapid and visible development of the University within a relatively short period.

He described the progress as commendable, particularly in view of the typical challenges faced by newly established institutions.

Prof. Omojola emphasized the importance of cooperation among public universities, stressing that strategic collaboration remains essential for sustainable development in the higher education sector.

“There is no need for infighting among universities. Unity should be our standard practice if we truly desire progressive development. Collaboration between FUTES and BOUESTI will benefit both institutions,” he said.

Responding, Prof. Aribisala expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated the BOUESTI Vice-Chancellor on his recent elevation, noting that university leaders share a collective responsibility to build strong, forward-looking institutions that deliver value to society.

He further acknowledged the role of the host community and other critical stakeholders, whose support, he noted, has contributed significantly to the stability and growth of the University.

Reaffirming his vision, the Vice-Chancellor stated that FUTES is being developed as a modern institution anchored on quality teaching, impactful research, and meaningful community service, adding that universities are ultimately measured by their contributions in these core areas.

He also expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm and alignment of staff with the University’s goals.

Prof. Aribisala welcomed the proposal for collaboration between both institutions, describing it as timely and beneficial.

“We are pleased with this move towards collaboration and progressive growth, and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership will create,” he said.

Also present during the courtesy visit were the FUTES Registrar, Mr. Oluwole Dada; the Bursar, Mrs. Adeniyi Ajayi; and the University Librarian, Professor Isaac Busayo.

The BOUESTI delegation also included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Olu Aturamu; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor J. O. Ekiran; the Registrar, Mrs. F. A. Adeusi; the Bursar, Dr. Babatunde Apata; and the Librarian, Mrs. S. R. Adekunmisi.
