The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN), has announced that its first semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session will commence on Monday, April 13, 2026.

This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, during the University’s April monthly prayer session held within the campus.

The session, themed “Glorious God,” is the first to be held following the commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the University’s Principal Officers in office.

Reflecting on the institution’s journey within the past year, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the University has recorded significant progress despite initial challenges.

“In the last one year, this University has crossed several hurdles. What we see today is a reflection of God’s faithfulness and the collective commitment of all stakeholders,” he said.

Prof. Aribisala emphasized that the monthly prayer session remains a core tradition of the University, rooted in gratitude and total dependence on God for guidance and growth.

“That is why we will continue to gather monthly to praise God because of His faithfulness to this institution,” he added.

On academic activities, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the current week has been designated as a revision period ahead of the commencement of examinations on April 13, after which students will proceed on a two-week break.

He reiterated the University’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and academic laxity, stressing that all lecturers are expected to have concluded lectures and made adequate materials available to students.

“No lecturer should, by now, be behind schedule. Students must be properly prepared for their examinations,” he stated.

Speaking on infrastructure development, Prof. Aribisala expressed appreciation to the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele for his support, particularly in facilitating recent clearing and mapping of the University’s permanent site, the commencement of fencing at the University’s proposed College of Medicine, and efforts to attract Public-Private Partnership (PPP) investments for hostel development.

In a bid to ensure holistic student development, the Vice-Chancellor announced plans to introduce structured sporting activities in the second semester, with a professional coach already engaged to prepare students for participation in both local and national competitions.

“We are building an all-round university experience for our students academically, physically, and socially. FUTES students can also participate and perform excellently well in national competitions like the Nigerian University Games (NUGA),” he said.

He, however, cautioned students against operating unauthorized social media accounts in the name of the University, noting that such actions are misleading and could damage the institution’s public image.
