The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN), has received the first batch of office equipment and other operational support from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) as part of efforts aimed at supporting the institution’s take-off and administrative development.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, who inspected the delivered items on campus on Monday, described the intervention as a major boost to the institution’s vision of building a technology-driven and globally competitive university.
Among the items delivered to the institution are a Toyota Hilux vehicle, a 30-seater bus, office equipment, and other operational items designed to support both academic and administrative activities within the University.
Speaking during the inspection, Prof. Aribisala expressed appreciation to TETFund for what he described as a timely and strategic intervention.
“This intervention is not just about the equipment delivered; it is also about strengthening the foundation of a new institution with great potential. For a young university like ours, support of this nature is critical to effective take-off, institutional stability, and service delivery,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor added that the support further demonstrated growing confidence in the university’s vision and development trajectory.
“We are intentional about building a university that will stand out in technology, environmental sciences, innovation, and sustainable development. These materials will contribute significantly to improving our operational efficiency as we continue to expand,” he stated.
The Vice-Chancellor also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to accountability and proper utilization of all interventions received from stakeholders and development partners.
“We understand the importance of prudent management of public resources. Every support received by the university will be deployed effectively toward achieving our mandate and creating a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research,” he added.
The development comes barely months after the institution received 300 units of assorted books from TETFund to support academic activities, library development, and research culture within the university.
Since commencing academic activities, FUTES-IYIN has continued to record rapid growth in infrastructure, administration, and academic planning, positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s emerging specialised universities.
Established to drive innovation and environmental sustainability, the institution has continued to attract attention from stakeholders within the education sector owing to its ambitious development pace and strategic institutional focus.
