The Department has a team of passionate and dedicated lecturers; our mission is to deliver a world-class education that empowers students to become forward-thinking professionals in the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity. The Department is committed to providing a balanced blend of strong theoretical foundations and hands-on practical experience. Our curriculum is designed to equip students with the critical skills and knowledge required to thrive in key areas such as cryptography, steganography, malware detection, cloud security, secure software development, cybersecurity strategy, information assurance, and digital innovation. We strive to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also capable of leading and shaping the future of digital security across industries.

Our academic programmes are designed to meet international standards while addressing local and regional needs, ensuring our graduates are competitive globally and impactful within their communities. We have lecturers whose backgrounds are rooted in Computer Science, with varying specialization such as Soft Computing, Computer Science and Cybersecurity, a field that blends machine intelligence, metaheuristic algorithms, fuzzy logic, neural networks, and evolutionary algorithms to solve complex real-world problems. This perspective strongly informs our approach to cybersecurity - one that combines analytical depth with intelligent innovation. We bring a wealth of experience in teaching, scholarly research, and academic leadership. Our research interest centers on applying machine learning and soft computing techniques to cybersecurity, steganography, cryptography, blockchain technology, intrusion detection, medical imaging, infectious detection, diagnosis, and surveillance that can advance Nigeria and Africa’s digital transformation.
